Meals On Wheels is a meal delivery service for seniors or disabled individuals who are unable to prepare nutritious, balanced meals for themselves. Volunteers deliver a hot tray and cold bagged meal to Farmington and Unionville residents. Seven days worth of meals can be delivered. Meals are available on a short or long term basis for a nominal fee. An income based sliding scale fee is offered for seniors on low, fixed incomes. Please contact our office for more information.
Congregate Meals provide an opportunity for Farmington and Unionville seniors to have lunch together to promote socialization and decrease feelings of isolation. These well-balanced, nutritious meals are served every Monday and Friday at 12 noon for a nominal fee. Please make a reservation 1 business day in advance by contacting our office.
(We are currently offering this program as a hot "Grab & Go".)
The Medical Equipment Program is available for individuals of any age and from any town. This program allows individuals to borrow medical equipment for a small service charge helping to ensure safety while at home. Our stockroom contains an assortment of items, such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, commodes, shower chairs, tub transfer benches, bedrails and much more. We do accept gently used, clean medical equipment on an appointment basis. Please call our office to borrow or donate items.
Our volunteer "Friendly Shoppers" provide grocery shopping assistance to seniors who live alone and may need help getting to the grocery store. The senior has the choice of accompanying the volunteer or making a list of needed grocery items. The individual requesting assistance is financially responsible for payment of the items. If you are a resident of Farmington or Unionville, please contact our office to enroll in the Friendly Shopping Program.
Services for the Elderly offers a wonderful "pick-me-up" to our Farmington homebound seniors. We provide birthday bags to our Meals On Wheels clients, as well as special gifts throughout the year. The Farmington Community Chest and the Farmington Garden Club, as well as local churches and individual groups are active community members in these programs. We are also grateful to our volunteers and their commitment to making smiles!
